Stop Carlos Mencia
After watching Joe Rogan rip Mencia apart on YouTube at some comedy club, I had even more reasons to dislike the guy.
There's something about his act that is insulting to watch, like Larry the Cable Guy. Only Larry, or Dan Whitney as he was once known, pisses me off even more. I guess it's cause I feel duped. I mean, I realized that Larry was a character, but I assumed it was also a true amplification of the comic himself. Watch this, and see a totally different act.
I've read some forum comments saying that what Dan Whitney does is no different than the standup of over the top comics like Gilbert Godfried or Andrew Dice Clay. Or even more like Sasha Baron Cohen. No comparison. His act comes across as dumbed-down, and I'm certain that most of his audience is not in on the joke. In interviews and his books he reasons that he stays in character in public to ensure that he does not forget the character. I honestly think some of his diehard redneck fanbase would be crushed if they heard him without the Texan drawl. He maintains the Larry persona in all interviews.

The Boys Are Back!

Watch the latest special, "Say Goodnight to the Bad Boys" here.
A message from Mike Clattenburg, creator of the Trailer Park Boys:
“Over the past few months there has been a lot of discussion among our fans and those in the media about the future of Trailer Park Boys. Will there be another season, another special, another movie? The last thing we want to do is keep our loyal fans in the dark about the show we have all loved doing for the past eight years, so we’d like now to shed some light.
We have a final one hour television special, “Say Goodnight To The Bad Guys”, which goes to air on Showcase on Sunday, December 7, 2008. Then after that, our sequel movie, “Countdown To Liqour Day” (working title), is due to be released in Canadian theatres in October, 2009.
But, after that, there will be no more. Yes, it’s the end of Trailer Park Boys. Our fans have been so supportive and inspiring that we wanted you to be the first to know. Much love and thanks from all of at Sunnyvale Trailer Park.
Mike"
